Honor the traditional style of a 1920s Colonial during gut remodeling and expansion while creating a luxury green home near downtown Rye for the comfort and health of a young family.
Green Home Consulting reviewed the architectural plans and specs to identify green construction opportunities. We created an energy efficient building envelope that dramatically improved the comfort and serenity of both the old house and the new addition. We recommended highly efficient renewable geothermal heating and cooling with added equipment that enabled the homeowners to efficiently produce domestic hot water as well as five solar photovoltaic arrays to produce some of the electricity needed to power the home.
Because the client also wanted a healthy home with good indoor air quality, GHC recommended a wide range of green building materials throughout, from insulation to drywall to paint and carpeting and more. A state-of-the-art water purification system was installed as well as a wireless home electronics system that aids in increased energy efficiency.
The client is thrilled with the outcome and very comfortable in their new home which retains the feel of a 1920s Colonial.
